Is it because Boris Johnson is such an amiable chap that I feel tempted to vote for him in the election for London Mayor ? - Nope.
Is it because he may declare an amnesty for anyone caught smashing up a restaurant if they’re wearing a dickie bow and have the wherewithal to provide hush money to pay the shocked proprietor ? - Nope.
Is it because the Conservative Campaign Newsletter AKA The London’s Evening Standard and Andrew (contemporaneous) Gilligan charge me 50 pence to tell me I should ? - Nope
Maybe it’s because he’d be an endless provider of hilarious material for the guys (and ladies) at the PCO and myself ? - Maybe.
Maybe I should start a campaign……
Update - I see that Bremner Bird and Fortune had put together a ‘blunderer’ video some time ago.
UPDATE The picture is now published here.
New image later today for Channel 4 News.
btw - Excuse the look of the site right now. I’ve had a few problems with the previous theme* or a plugin or a combination of the two.
This meant that the site would only partially load or cause problems for certain browsers.
I’m trying to find a safe but acceptable WP theme.
Many thanks to Sam for letting me know of the problem.
*It may have been K2’s ‘floating’ history navigation in case anyone else is trying it out.
UPDATE - Hopefully back to the old theme with advanced navigation off - If anyone’s having problems, please let me know. Cheers.
British Airtime of The World’s Least Favourite Relay.
The aerial shots of the olympic torch relay seemed to remind me of something - apologies.
Poor Konnie Huq….
The new version…
Further Update - If you’re heading to The Goose, specifically at the start of the week, check the new earlier closing times before travelling.
Update - Just to say that, as far as I know, it will be some months, maybe a year or two before the Crown and Goose closes.
Excuse the local and personal nature of this post.
A real shame - it seems it’s the end for The Crown and Goose.
A Ten minutes walk to this pub normally results in a thirty minute return journey for me along the same route (after a few pints of Guinness).
The pub has been fighting to stay open for years but it looks like it has finally lost its battle with developers whose representatives seem to be making something of the badly needed accommodation the site will provide :
“If you look at the sites in central London where there is a need for more housing, this is one that I think is ripe for development.
“Ten new flats will come from this. The buildings that are there do not have much architectural merit – they are not listed.”
Source Camden New Journal
Hmmm - Ten flats in a rather well-to-do area of Camden. This will surely help vital inner city workers in their quest to find accommodation close to the services which Camden residents so desperately need.
Celebrity-ville, despite the reputation, the Crown and Goose was not. Although there may have been frequent visits by certain members of music’s finest, the Goose is a place that the odd celeb managed a relatively normal drink with his or her mates, without being disturbed.
If you run a non-commercial site, link back to this blog (not the individual post) and credit 'Beau Bo D'Or', you are welcome to use the images I create - with the exception of those I do for Channel 4 News or any 3rd party.
Please no bulletin boards that require registration.
Definitely no Daily Mail who seem keen to nick my images.
