Full story over at Liberal Conspiracy and the real video can be seen at Don’t Panic Online.
Proper video shenanigans soon and a few pics before that – although I must admit to being a bit slow to get off the mark since returning from my long weekend.
Suggests the impossible. Suggests the impractical. Suggests the unaffordable.
Protect the kids!!! Then, ‘protect me and my Government!”.
A lot of kite-flying going on (which involves a lot of string pulling).
Pops up for a quick interview, gets column inches, then flies off back to the censor-ship.
Can’t wait to see him cringe when he discovers The Sun’s Page 3 and some of its slideshows have to be censored as well as The Daily Mail’s topless photos of Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse.
Concerned about censorship by the Daily Mail and the likes of Peter Whittle at CentreRight, I thought it best to help disseminate some of the material they may think unacceptable, purely in the interests of research.
It took a while to think up the name for the blog, but I finally decided on a title which would be descriptive and therefore serve as a warning for those of a nervous disposition.
You can see the first two posts on Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher here on my new site Blue Blog.
Please note – Language warning! (visible and audible)
UPDATE : I must admit there has been quite a debate on the Tory website, some disgusted (or feigning disgust) about a joke about the Queen, some for essentially continuing an attack on the BBC post Brand&Ross and others arguing vociferously against it. One or two seem to be harking back to the good old days. I don’t think it will be long before someone demands the return to black and white and 405 lines.
btw – (not HD related), If your Freeview has stopped working recently (it may still do when you next scan for new, updated channels), it’s because Freeview is updating its transmission standards and you have an old set-top box. There’s nothing else for it – you have to buy a new one because the manufacturers either can not or will not update the firmware.
Liberal Conspiracy has pointed out that Amused Cynicism has tried to have its own version (a different one than mine to clear up any confusion) of an Olympics T Shirt printed at an online clothing retailer.
However, the retailer has, unsurprisingly, taken it down. update I did post a comment on Liberal Conspiracy some time ago but, considering there have been subsequent comments, it seems that LC has either decided not to post it or (because it had two links in it) maybe an anti-spam bot chucked it out.
I’ve dealt with several online retailers and knew the design would be deleted if I tried to have my own design (below) printed.
That’s why I produced an extremely large version for anyone who wanted to take the file along to a high street retailer and have it printed on their own shirt. However, if anyone can have several printed and make no profit whatsoever from it, I’d be happy with that.
Please note that the comment I make in the first post is about a notorious commercial clothing retailer and nothing to do with AC’s shirt.
If you were to visit Amused Cynicism, you will see that our designs are pretty similar.
Not a surprise really. The Tank Man image is so iconic, that it was bound to crop up a few times in Beijing Olympics images.
It wouldn’t surprise me if there is a similar image out there somewhere that predates my 2007 picture. I saw one a while ago (a few months after I devised mine – ooooh defensive!) and think that it was produced this year. update I’ve had a look around the web and found the source of the version I saw recently and it was created in 2006!.
It’s on a Taiwanese site, so full credit to them for being first off the mark.
If you run a non-commercial site and place an active link to this blog (http://www.bbdo.co.uk/blog - not the individual post) ADJACENT TO THE IMAGE and credit 'Beau Bo D'Or', you are welcome to use the images I create - with the exception of those I do on a commercial basis for Channel 4 News or any 3rd party. Please no bulletin boards that require registration. Definitely no Daily Mail which seems keen to nick my images without credit or payment.
