Before the storm of domestic vitriol appears in the red tops (it already has on messageboards), here’s Osama Saeed’s views on the situation.

Muslims in this country don’t have a problem standing with Gillian Gibbons on these ridiculous charges.

Fine. But what are they doing about it? Marching on the Sudanese embassy? Writing letters? Somehow I think that if I, as a white, atheist Englishman were to do that I would simply make matters worse. I’m desperately sorry for our idiot leaders invading Iraq, but I did everything I possibly could to stop it. Now it’s the turn of British Muslims. If they don’t make a very big fuss about this, then they will be seen as being in agreement with the Wahhabis.

  2. The religion of the perpetually offended has clearly got a major inferiority complex which is compensated for by extremely aggressive behaviour as shown so many times since Salman Rushdie first gave us the totally boring Satanic Verses. Having said that, the opening chapter that contains the jumbo jet exploding in mid air over England was prophetic since this was just before Lockerbie. To all muslims - take a chill pill and try to simply allow some time out from your daily enslavement to Allah. In other words, don’t take yourselves so seriously and have some fun, like playing with your children and laughing about the stupidity of the Sudanese decision to prosecute an innocent English school teacher.
