Blogging has been light recently due to problems with my back and neck. What I have been posting have been relatively easy to create and some duds, so apologies for that. Things are definitely improving but I will be taking a further break for a week or so while I sort out some family and financial stuff. I hope to be blogging more regularly in a couple of weeks. Thanks to all my regular visitors for sticking with me.
In the meantime, here are a few links of relatively recent work which I am pretty happy with, which some may have missed and some new Twitter followers may not have seen before.
First, the videos.
MPs Expenses meet Trainspotting. I’m really chuffed with this. It took ages, superimposing faces, sometimes frame by frame.
Labour 4 Tony Blair. I was infuriated when Blair returnes to the UK to campaign on behalf of Labour, so put this together. Again, this took quite some time but mainly to discover the right clips to use. The video starts with and references the film ‘Whistle Down The Wind’ in which a group of children discover an escaped murderer in a barn and believe he is Jesus which, in my opinion, sums up some of the Labour party’s faithful attitude to Tony Blair. The video juxtaposes their fawning over their ‘Jesus’ with scenes of the devastation he helped to cause. I deliberately omitted any graphic scenes of carnage.
David Cameron, ‘Loving You’. A Panicky Political Broadcast. I created this when I saw the Conservative PPB featuring Cameron in his garden, birds singing in the background. I immediately thought of the birds singing in the Minnie Ripperton song. Another video showing party faithful ‘making eyes’ and wetting their bloomers at the sight of such a hunk of a man.
By request from ‘Rt. Hon’ in comments. Lord Ashcroft. ‘Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz’. Tories get their requests in to their UK tax-dodging peer.
Nick Griffin on Question Time Video put together lampooning Griffin & the BNP, intercutting scenes from Mel Brooks’ ‘The Producers’.
Images
One of my favourites ever. Lib Dem Strategy. Tie a Yellow Ribbon ‘Round The Old Oak Tree. Sometimes, things just fit and a simple graphic is ten times better than a photoshopped photographic image.
Tony & Cherie Blair – ‘never voted Conservative’. As seen on ‘Have I Got News For You’. Spoof of one of the Tory election posters.
While we’re at it, Here’s my best Tory ‘Cameron Face’ poster. ‘We know your place.’
Thanks to Eddi Reader and Graham Linehan RTs on Twitter, my comparison of the Lib Dem & Conservative coalition talks to the ‘Tell Me More’ scene from Grease became one of my most viewed images.
And, briefly
David Cameron ‘Obsession For Me’ image. A fair bit of photoshopping and just knocked the ‘n’ off ‘Obsession For Men’
Labour ‘Future’ poster. ‘But we were invited’
Labour ‘Hang on lads. I’ve got a great idea.’ Very true then and more so now, judging by the leadership contest.
George Osborne, Kid with Clown image.
Lib Dems ‘Power will not change us.’
Gordon Brown, ‘Mirror, Mirror’ The last remaining paper supporting Labour.
Gaza. ‘It’s a kid!’. A reworking of Roy Lichtenstein’s ‘Whaam!’ painting, portraying US financial support for Israel. Includes link to a much larger version.
Tony Blair & George Bush. Love Story. Warning. May make you feel a bit queasy.
Finally, a couple of non-political ones.
Mickey Mouse meets Spiderman 2. Put together when Disney bought Marvel.
Nessun Doormat & ‘White Van with England flags. World Cup images.
