Tesco metro type shops rely on students and other people who tend not to care about the survival of local shops. These people appear not to be aware of the fact that local shops are actually often cheaper, just not as shiny. Being a student in cardiff, I empathise with those within the community that tries to stop this expansion, but recognise that I am powerless to make people see between the blue and white lines. The latest Tesco offering on North Road is perhaps the cruelest of all in Cardiff – 133 North Road, family owned North Stores will surely die a very quick death.
